World Television was chosen by the Bank of England to provide coverage of one of its most significant recent announcements: Governor Mark Carney’s first Inflation Report.
We streamed coverage from the Inflation Report press conference, where Carney launched his policy of Forward Guidance which links interest rates to the level of unemployment. We were then asked to provide facilities for each of the major UK broadcasters to conduct separate interviews with him.
We created an HD multi-camera recording facility at the Bank’s offices and worked closely with the BBC, Sky, ITV and Channel 4 to deliver the recorded material on the spot. This enabled them to edit and transmit it on their evening news programmes. The interviews were the lead stories across all the major channels.
World Television Producer, Paul Ver Bruggen, said: ‘To be at the heart of an event of such significance throughout the day and then have it delivered across every major channel in the evening was a credit to everyone involved.’
The channels agreed – one said: ‘Thanks so much for sorting out all the logistics and technical aspects of the interview this afternoon with Governor Carney. It all went well and we were able to access the video with no trouble – a miracle!’
